The Frank W Jordan Seminar was established to honor Dr. Frank W Jordan on the campus of KSU and to provide financial assistance to promote continuing education for the College of Veterinary Medicine. Each year this seminar is offered free, with the option to purchase proceedings and a meal. 

In 2023 the seminar will be hosted in a hybrid format presented face-to-face and virtually. Those attending in person will be at Kansas State University, in the BI Auditorium. Those participating virtually will receive additional on accessing the CE about a week before the event. The topic for the 2023 Frank W Jordan Seminar is Public Health.

The Forgotten Danger of Veterinary Medicine: Practical Infection and

Zoonotic Disease Prevention for Veterinary Personnel

This presentation will describe infection prevention measures that should be taken in veterinary clinics and present a sample infection control plan. Additionally, I will review common zoonotic pathogens seen in clinical practice and discuss veterinary standard precautions to protect against transmission of zoonotic pathogens.


Cryptosporidium Parvum: A GI Pathogen Across All Species 

Leslie Weaver, DVM

In this talk we will discuss the pathophysiology behind cryptosporidum parvum as it applies to all species large and small and even to humans. We will discuss diagnostics used clinically in all species. In addition, we will show current treatment options and how crypto can result in longer term effects to the GI tract.


K-State College of Veterinary Medicine MPH Program 

Ellyn Mulcahy, PhD, MPH

In this session, we will share an exciting opportunity for K-State public health training and available scholarships for both a graduate certificate in public health and a master in public health degree. These scholarships are available for 2023, 2024 and 2025 for Veterinarians.


The Opioid Epidemic and Veterinary Medicine
